  • Common mistakes that damage your Talaskye press-on nails

Your Talaskye luxury press-on nails are made from 100% gel, making them far more durable and flexible than store-bought plastic alternatives. They won’t bend or break easily with proper care, but they’re not indestructible. Since they can last 2 to 3 weeks per wear, they’ll naturally experience some wear and tear depending on how you treat them. While it’s impossible to keep them completely damage-free, the good news is that with proper care, you can extend their lifespan and keep them looking flawless for longer. Here are some common mistakes that can damage your press-ons—and how to avoid them. Everyday Habits That Can Shorten Your Press-Ons’ Lifespan Washing Dishes Without Gloves If your hands are in water often, wearing gloves is a must! While good hygiene is essential, prolonged exposure to warm water and soap can weaken the bond between your press-ons and natural nails, causing lifting. Soaking Hands in the Bath No, we’re not going to suggest wearing gloves in the bath (because that wouldn’t be relaxing at all!). But if you love a long soak, try to keep your hands out of the water as much as possible. Keep a towel nearby so you can dry them off while you unwind with a book and some much-needed R&R. Shampooing Your Hair Aggressively When washing your hair, use your fingertips—not your nails—to massage your scalp. Press-ons can easily snag, lift, or get caught in your hair, which can loosen them prematurely. Plus, your fingertips are much gentler than sharp nail edges. Zipping, Buttoning, or Pulling Up Tight Clothing This one’s tricky—especially for those wearing short or medium-length nails. Pressing against zippers, buttons, or tight fabric can put pressure on your press-ons, causing them to lift or pop off. Use your fingertips where possible and be mindful when getting dressed. Texting & Scrolling with Nails Tapping your phone screen with your nail tips instead of your fingertips can chip the gel at the free edge and compromise the structure of the nail. A simple switch in how you hold your phone can help prevent unnecessary damage. Typing & Tapping with Nails Similar to texting, typing with your nails instead of your fingertips causes wear and tear along the edges, making them more prone to chipping. If you work at a keyboard often, try to adjust your typing style to avoid direct pressure on your press-ons. Using Your Nails as Tools It’s tempting to use your nails for quick fixes, but it’s also one of the fastest ways to ruin them. Avoid using your press-ons for tasks like: Opening cans Peeling off stickers or labels Tearing open packages (scissors exist for a reason!) Scraping off residue or dried product Treat your press-ons like an accessory, not a tool! Cooking & Food Prep Be extra careful when grating, peeling, or chopping food, as press-ons can chip or scratch against hard surfaces. Sticky or oily foods can also cause lifting, so if you’re handling ingredients like dough or raw meat, be mindful of how often you’re washing your hands afterward. Removing Makeup with Your Hands Makeup removers, especially those with oils, can break down the glue bond between your natural nails and press-ons, causing them to lift or pop off. Instead of rubbing makeup off with your fingers, use a cotton pad or makeup wipe for a safer removal process. Daily Activities That Apply Pressure on Your Nails Things like pressing remote control buttons, folding clothes, or changing bedsheets seem harmless but can actually put unexpected pressure on your nails. While you don’t need to avoid these tasks, being a little more mindful will go a long way in keeping your nails intact. Using Acetone or Nail Removers Acetone is great for removing gel polish—but it’s also the fastest way to ruin your press-ons. If you plan on reusing them, avoid acetone-based products altogether. The only exception? If you accidentally flood the press-on with liquid nail glue, a tiny bit of acetone can help clean it up—but even then, use it sparingly! Final Thoughts Your Talaskye press-ons are designed for luxury, longevity, and convenience—but like any beauty accessory, they thrive with the right care. A little mindfulness in your daily routine can make all the difference in keeping them looking beautiful for as long as possible.
